Learn more about our extraordinary teams building inspiring projects in our Impact Report.Project OverviewWe are looking for top talent to join the expanding Bechtel Renewables & Clean Power business line to deliver the latest in our long-term portfolio of natural gas fired combined cycle power projects. This Project is a nominal 640MW single unit that will provide consistent electrical power to the regional grid. Bechtel is currently supporting our customer to define the scope and design basis for the Project which will utilize advanced gas turbine technology to deliver reliable and responsive electric power generation. The position will initially be based in the Reston, VA office (single status) to support preconstruction and project planning activities, followed by a long-term field assignment at the project site in Sullivan County, Indiana upon mobilization.Job SummaryProvides technical leadership and coordination for all mechanical construction scopes including, gas turbines, rotating & static equipment installation, tanks, fin-fan coolers, and auxiliary mechanical systems. Responsible for construction work packaging, field engineering coordination, quantity tracking, technical issue resolution, inspection coordination, turnover support, and integration between construction, engineering, procurement, QA/QC, vendors, and commissioning teams.Major ResponsibilitiesOn a medium sized job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Deputy Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating sectionLeadership/SupervisionProactively engages with their teams' development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedbackSupervises a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.Work Planning & PackagingCoordinates with design on constructability issues.Material ManagementDirects the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment.QuantitiesPossesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.Safety / Quality ControlEnsures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.System Turnover CoordinatorFor Direct Hire:Possesses responsibility for coordinating between construction and startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the startup specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.STR / Subcontract CoordinatorReviews and approves inspection test plansSupervises reviews of subcontractor submittalsEducation and Experience RequirementsRequires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experienceRequired Knowledge and SkillsLarge EPC industrial or power project field engineering experienceStrong understanding of mechanical construction methods and sequencingExperience with piping systems, rotating equipment, and static equipment installationStrong knowledge of mechanical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs Experience managing RFIs, redlines, as-builts, and technical queriesUnderstanding of welding, NDE, pressure testing, and turnover requirementsExperience coordinating inspections, testing, and turnover documentationStrong interface coordination with construction, engineering, QA/QC, and vendors Familiarity with AWP, CWPs, IWPs, and workface planning preferredStrong communication, planning, and problem-solving skillsTotal Rewards/BenefitsFor decades, Bechtel has worked to inspire the next generation of employees and beyond!
