Payroll Accounting Specialist
A growing professional services organization is seeking a Payroll Accounting Specialist to join its collaborative payroll team. This role offers the opportunity to manage end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse client portfolio while gaining exposure to payroll compliance, tax filings, and client consulting.
This is a highly visible, hands-on position ideal for someone who thrives in a detail-oriented, client-facing environment and enjoys balancing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Process payroll for a portfolio of approximately 90120 clients on scheduled cycles
- Prepare, reconcile, and review payroll reports and adjustments
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of payroll outputs based on client-specific requirements
Client Support & Communication
- Partner with clients to ensure timely and accurate submission of payroll data
- Troubleshoot and resolve payroll platform issues and user questions
- Build strong client relationships and conduct quarterly business reviews
Tax & Compliance Support
- Assist with quarterly and annual payroll tax filings
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in internal systems
- Track workflows, deadlines, and project status to ensure compliance and efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Prior payroll or accounting experience is a plus (training available for the right candidate)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with a client-focused approach
- Reliable, organized, and proactive with strong follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort learning new systems
- Interest in obtaining the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is encouraged
