Job Location Denver Correctional Complex Position Overview Safety and Security – maintain safety and security of facility and work sites; train and guide inmates on proper use of controlled items, tools, equipment and chemicals; enforce security procedures, conduct searches, monitor environment and behavior, and respond to emergency situations. Supervision – provide supervisory duties for assigned inmate workers; set work standards, train on tools and procedures, stress safe work practices, and exemplify professional conduct. Inmate Supervision – participate in interview and hiring, train in preventive maintenance and repairs for boiler house and water treatment systems, monitor progress, inspect work, calculate inmate hours and pay, create schedules, and resolve grievances. Operations – ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective execution of assigned tasks; work alongside inmates; manage boiler house and water treatment plant; assist HVAC specialist; perform building and grounds maintenance projects; monitor chillers, boilers, generator, water treatment and electrical systems. Maintain clean, safe, secure work environment through sanitation procedures, inventory control, and compliance with health and safety codes. Coordinate logistical support with other trades and shops; complete required documentation such as work orders and incident reports; ensure all work complies with applicable standards, codes, regulations, and policy. Minimum Qualifications License: Active Stationary Engineer Certification or equivalent certification (must be attached to application) Experience: Four (4) years of experience in boiler operations performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. Substitutions Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or degree through an accredited, non‑correspondence vocational or trade school that results in demonstrated competencies equivalent to the required experience may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
