The Talent Development Specialist sits on our Learning & Development team within Human Resources, a group dedicated to educating and empowering our operations, sales, and support teams. In this role, you will be a champion of member service and operational excellence throughout the organization. Your primary focus will be to deliver learning through a variety of methods including classroom training, virtual learning, podcasts, job shadowing, mentoring, and one-on-one coaching. In addition to ownership of our new hire programs, you will also serve as an expert in focus areas like sales and service excellence, product knowledge, consumer and real estate lending, retirement solutions, and more.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Facilitating classroom training, virtual sessions, and other learning approaches to effectively engage and educate team members throughout the organization.
- Can facilitate orientation, RA Academy, and at least one other core class.
- Facilitating one-on-one coaching or training sessions on a remedial or fast-track basis.
- Researching best practices, bringing a variety of contemporary service excellence ideas to the mix, and quickly synthesizing course content to develop new ideas and tools.
- Assessing training effectiveness through feedback, testing, and performance metrics.
- Serving as a talent development SME, liaison, and business partner to internal clients.
- Identifying learning opportunities, conducting performance analyses, and formulating learning objectives, setting the stage for a fundamentally sound training program.
- Partnering with others to plan, organize, and execute large-scale corporate events.
- Authoring simple, effective educational materials and communications to increase awareness and application of member service and operational best practices.
- Sharing in the responsibility of proactively maintaining a large library of training materials and resources, including instruction manuals, job aids, classroom materials, and multimedia resources.
- Traveling to AFCU branches to conduct training and coaching as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in education, adult learning, communications, organizational development, human resources, or a similar field.
- 2+ years of experience training or in a similar learning and development role.

- Demonstrated knowledge of banking, credit union, and/or sales operations.
Certifications:
- Certification in Training or Adult Learning (CPLP, ATD, SHRM)
- Functional competency in the use of computers, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
Other characteristics of the position:
- Physical demands include sitting for long periods at a time, regularly required to talk or listen, occasional lifting of office supplies up to 20 lbs., and vision abilities including close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Mental demands include understanding and following a set of clear oral and/or written procedures without deviation, performing repetitive routine tasks, withstanding moderate amounts of stress, adhering to a provided work schedule to meet a set of qualitative production standards, performing tasks that vary little from day to day, implementing others' decisions/procedures with little judgment required, and relaying information orally.
