Operations Analyst

Obsidian CIO is the first technology-driven OCIO purpose-built for independent RIAs. Role Description This is a full-time Operations Analyst position based in Manhattan, NY, with flexibility for some remote work. The Operations Analyst will play a central role in delivering the operational support behind the advisors Obsidian serves - running and improving core operational workflows across trading, client onboarding, and reporting; managing operations for private asset allocations including subscription paperwork, capital call processes, and custodian-level settings; and ensuring client accounts are set up, maintained, and serviced accurately and on time. As the operational hub of the firm, this role sits at the intersection of the advisors we serve, our investment team, custodians, technology, and client service. Initially, the position is highly execution-oriented, with responsibility for owning the day-to-day operational processes that keep those advisor relationships running smoothly. We are seeking someone with the ambition and aptitude to grow beyond process execution into operational strategy and leadership. Over time, the successful candidate will identify inefficiencies, redesign workflows, implement scalable solutions, and help shape Obsidian's operating model as the firm grows. Rather than simply completing operational tasks, this person will increasingly focus on how operations should function - leveraging technology, automation, and process design to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance the experience for advisors and their clients. The ideal candidate enjoys both rolling up their sleeves to solve immediate problems and thinking strategically about how to build systems that scale. Qualifications Exceptional organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple work-streams, track competing priorities, and own the details that keep operations running Strong process and workflow instincts, with the ability to see how work moves through a system and identify where it breaks down Highly analytical, with demonstrated proficiency in structuring problems, working with data, and interpreting results to inform operational decisions Exposure to investment products and wealth management operations, with the ability to understand and support workflows related to portfolios, trading, and private investments Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear memos, lead working meetings, and constructively push back when warranted Self-directed and driven, with a track record of moving initiatives forward independently in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across advisors, custodians, and internal investment, technology, and client service teams Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field required Minimum 3 years of prior experience in investment operations, financial services operations, or a comparable role. Prior experience at an RIA, wealth management firm, or asset management firm is a plus Compensation Range: In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for an annual performance bonus.
