Director Data Science and AI

Director Technology Management leading enterprise Data Science and AI initiatives at DePuy Synthes. Reports to VP, Chief Data and AI Officer, managing teams of data scientists and engineers while driving AI adoption across R&D, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of Data Science, Machine Learning, Generative AI initiatives across R&D, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Commercial, and Corporate functions
• Manage and mentor teams of Full-Stack Data Engineers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and AI practitioners
• Partner with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and deliver high-value analytics and AI use cases aligned to enterprise objectives
• Serve as operational owner of Enterprise AI Governance Board, coordinating governance processes, risk assessments, and approval workflows
• Establish delivery roadmaps, success metrics, and ensure AI solutions comply with governance standards, Responsible AI principles, and regulatory obligations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• 10+ years in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, or related disciplines
• Demonstrated leadership of Data Science or AI teams in complex enterprise environments
• Hands-on expertise in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, LLMs, and agentic AI
• Production-level experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions
• Proficiency with MLOps, LLMOps, model lifecycle management, and modern platforms like Databricks, AWS, Azure, SageMaker
• Strong understanding of AI governance, Responsible AI practices, model risk management, and compliance
