Mechanical Engineering Manager

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of mechanical engineers within a growing precision manufacturing environment.

This highly visible leadership role combines people development, technical problem-solving, workflow improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to help engineering and production operate more efficiently.

Responsibilities:

· Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of mechanical design engineers.

· Establish goals, provide actionable feedback, manage performance, and support professional-development planning.

· Create a culture of accountability, urgency, collaboration, and consistent follow-through.

· Optimize engineering workflows to improve throughput, eliminate waste, and strengthen handoffs between engineering and production.

· Identify potential problems early and take action before they affect quality, cost, or delivery.

· Troubleshoot complex design and production challenges using an analytical, solutions-focused approach.

· Guide engineers through concept development, 3D modeling, drawing creation, tolerance selection, and design-for-manufacturability reviews.

· Ensure engineering deliverables meet customer expectations and internal quality requirements.

· Own and monitor departmental performance indicators.

· Develop and manage the engineering department’s budget.

· Partner with production and other internal teams to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance.

· Address unresolved issues directly and make timely, well-informed decisions.

Requirements:

·10+ years of design-engineering experience

· Previous experience leading, mentoring, and managing direct reports.

· Strong understanding of CNC machining, precision manufacturing, and related production processes.

· Demonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks.

· Experience guiding projects through concept development, 3D modeling, prints, tolerances, and manufacturability reviews.

· Proven ability to improve engineering workflows, productivity, quality, and cost performance.

· Confident and effective communication skills, including the ability to provide feedback and hold team members accountable.

· Proactive, assertive, innovative, and solutions-oriented leadership style.

· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.

· Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening is required.
