Accounting Assistant

Job Summary We are seeking an Accounting Assistant for a direct hire opportunity in Pleasanton, CA. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with 3 to 5 years of experience who enjoys supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and contributing to a well-organized finance team. The Accounting Assistant will support accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, data entry, and general accounting administration in a professional business services environment. Key Responsibilities Process accounts payable invoices, verify approvals, code expenses, and assist with payment preparation. Support accounts receivable functions, including billing, payment posting, account updates, and customer follow-up. Reconcile vendor statements, customer accounts, bank activity, and general ledger details as needed. Maintain accurate accounting records, files, and documentation in accordance with internal procedures. Assist with month-end close support, reporting, journal entries, and other accounting projects. Communicate professionally with internal teams, vendors, and customers to resolve billing or payment questions. Compensation and Benefits Pay range: $30.00 to $32.00 per hour. Job type: Direct hire. Location: Pleasanton, CA. Required Qualifications and Skills Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processing. Maintain accurate accounting records, reconciliations, and documentation. Assist with billing, payment posting, vendor records, and month-end accounting support. 3 to 5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or accounts receivable experience. Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools. High attention to detail with strong accuracy in data entry, coding, and reconciliations. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced office environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and service-oriented approach. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Prior experience in a business services or professional office environment. Familiarity with month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and general ledger support. Ability to identify process improvements and help maintain efficient accounting workflows.
