Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA)

Dayton VA Medical Center — 4100 W Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428

Pay: $26.92 / hour blended rate, commensurate with experience

Includes $21.50/hour base wage plus $5.42/hour Health & Welfare benefit required under the Service Contract Act (Wage Determination 2015-4731).

Monday–Friday, day-shift hours (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) — no nights, weekends, or on-call

A healthcare staffing contractor is seeking experienced Advanced Medical Support Assistants to support Primary Care and Patient Business Office operations at the Dayton VA Medical Center. This is a full-time, W-2 position supporting a federal healthcare facility, with a stable Monday–Friday day-shift schedule.

What You'll Do

•      Perform a full range of front-line receptionist and customer service duties for one or more clinics.

•      Maintain and manage appointment schedules; adjust appointment times/locations to meet clinic access needs.

•      Validate and update patient demographic and insurance information at each interaction.

•      Screen and route incoming calls; respond to patient and staff inquiries with professionalism and tact.

•      Accurately enter and maintain records in the electronic health record system (CPRS/EHR).

•      Participate in daily team huddles and support care-coordination and clinic-access workflows.

•      Advise veterans on beneficiary travel eligibility and reimbursement procedures.

What You'll Need

•      2–3 years of relevant medical administrative/support experience, or certification from an accredited institution related to medical administration.

•      Strong customer service skills and comfort working directly with patients and families in person and by phone.

•      Working knowledge of electronic scheduling and health record systems (VA CPRS/EHR experience a plus).

•      Ability to pass required background investigation and any applicable screening/credentialing checks.
