Radio-Television-Film Lecturer Pool
San Jose State University
Overview Thank you for your interest in applying to be in the Radio‑Television‑Film Lecturer Pool . The Department of Film and Theatre offers a three‑major curriculum in Radio‑Television‑Film, Theatre Arts, and Dance, preparing students for careers as actors, dancers, performers, educators, directors, scriptwriters, producers, designers, technicians, managers, and scholarly/critical writers. Our program trains students in radio, television, film, and theatre production, and dance, with courses in the history, scholarship, and aesthetics of these media. Students also engage in full‑time radio station KSJS 90.5, short and feature film production through Spartan Film Studios, and the department’s season of stage productions. Responsibilities Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population—including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation—through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. Teach undergraduate courses in Radio‑Television‑Film (RTVF), including major courses and those offered under General Education; hold regular office hours; collaborate with staff, chair, and other faculty; participate in course assessment activities. Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) provided for the SJSU Community, ensuring faculty–student connection and access to course materials for online or in‑person instruction. Ensure all classes meet on schedule throughout the semester or term in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, bi‑chronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Qualifications Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural student population, gained through cross‑cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience. Earned an M.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D. with significant professional experience, strong teaching skills, and competence or training in radio, television, and/or film studies, performance, or production. Compensation and Salary Range Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience.
