Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in nursing, including 1 year of Med Surg experience in a large hospital (600+ beds) License: Indiana RN license or compact Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary nursing experience. Candidate must have experience in a large medical facility, specifically in Medical Surgical nursing care. Description: The nursing team provides care to a diverse population of patients with various diagnoses. Patients may have chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, and CHF. Nursing care includes managing GI issues like pancreatitis and inflammatory bowel diseases. Infectious diseases managed may include pneumonia, cellulitis, and sepsis. Neurological patients may present with conditions such as stroke and dementia. Mental health considerations include depression and anxiety disorders. Patients may undergo a variety of procedures, including colonoscopies and biopsies. General job duties include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of electronic health records (EHR) is essential in daily tasks. Experience with IV therapy management, including medication drips, is required. Equipment used includes pyxis machines, telemetry monitoring, and hospira IV pumps. Patient ratios typically range from 1:5 to 1:6. The shift schedule includes 12-hour shifts with three weekend shifts every four weeks. Nurses may float to other medical units as needed. Scrubs are required to be Caribbean Blue. Training includes a comprehensive orientation program with a focus on nursing practices and EHR training.
