Employment Partner, California

About the Role

Build and lead an employment law practice within a collaborative California boutique law firm. The role combines employer-side counseling and litigation with opportunities to support the firm's corporate and real estate teams through internal referrals.

What You'll Do

• Establish and grow an employment practice, developing client relationships and originating new business.

• Advise employers on California wage and hour compliance, handbooks, workplace policies, reductions in force, and executive and separation agreements.

• Defend single-plaintiff employment claims and handle wage and hour class actions and PAGA representative actions.

• Support corporate and real estate transactions with employment diligence, executive compensation advice, and post-closing integration matters.

• Mentor associates and collaborate with colleagues as the practice grows.

What We're Looking For

• 8 to 20 years of California employment law experience, including both defense-side advice and counseling and litigation.

• Active California State Bar membership and a JD from an ABA-accredited law school.

• A portable book of business of at least $500,000, with a demonstrated record of client origination and business development.

• First or second chair trial experience, or experience with class actions and PAGA matters.

• Experience building or leading a practice, with an entrepreneurial, collaborative approach.

• Comfort using legal research and document technology.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $200,000 to $230,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Location

Hybrid, with two days per week in the Culver City, California office. Candidates should be based in or willing to relocate to the Los Angeles area.
