Position Overview The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Account Technician 2 for the Office of Fiscal Management. This position will perform difficult and complex calculations; review, audit, and enter personnel transactions processed by the Agency or requested by the employee such as payroll deductions, direct deposit requests, deferred compensation requests and changes to tax withholdings; enter variants for overtime, holiday, dock time, shift differential, call back and temporary assignments; make complex calculations to determine payment amount; reconcile reports with information submitted to ensure accuracy. Essential Functions Under direction, performs difficult and highly complex tasks in the preparation, processing and expediting of all personal services and contractual services payroll on a computerized system. Maintains complex spreadsheets detailing seasonal worker, contractual and other non- permanent employee program data. Independently reviews and reconciles payroll vouchers. Serves as designated lead worker. Maintains Agency payroll filling system. Maintains complex expenditure spreadsheets by manually entering values not automatically captured by system processes. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and one year of technical accounting experience or four years of related clerical bookkeeping experience Preferred Qualifications Extensive knowledge of accounting techniques. Working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures. One (1) year of experience supervising and training a small staff of subprofessionals in the performance of specialized clerical and account-keeping tasks.
