Job Type: Full-Time
Work Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite and 2 days remote (schedule may vary based on business needs)

Position Overview

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and highly organized Communications Specialist to support internal and external communication initiatives. This position is responsible for developing engaging content, managing digital communication platforms, coordinating media relations, and ensuring consistent messaging across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills, experience managing social media and website content, and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & External Communications

• Write, edit, and publish professional content for newsletters, press releases, reports, websites, and other communication materials.
• Maintain and update organizational websites and digital platforms to ensure information is accurate, current, and accessible.
• Manage daily social media activities, including content creation, scheduling, posting, and monitoring engagement.
• Develop written and visual content that promotes organizational programs, services, and initiatives.
• Assist with distributing public announcements, educational materials, and informational campaigns.
• Support the planning, promotion, and coordination of organizational events, conferences, and community outreach activities.

Internal Communications

• Assist with developing and implementing internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged.
• Create newsletters, announcements, presentations, and other internal communication materials.
• Maintain consistent branding, messaging, and editorial standards across communication platforms.
• Collaborate with departments to gather updates and develop communication materials.

Media Relations & Public Relations

• Assist with responding to routine media inquiries and public information requests.
• Draft press releases, media advisories, briefing materials, and press kits.
• Maintain media contact lists and coordinate communication with external media representatives.
• Monitor media coverage and track public engagement.
• Prepare reports and summaries evaluating communication effectiveness.

Administrative & Project Support

• Develop communication materials highlighting organizational achievements, programs, and initiatives.
• Assist leadership with presentations, special projects, and informational materials.
• Coordinate communication activities across multiple departments.
• Track project deadlines and ensure communication materials are completed accurately and on time.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, content creation, marketing, or digital media management.
• Previous experience working in government, public sector, or public affairs communications is preferred.

Required Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong proofreading, editing, and professional writing abilities.
• Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging digital content.
• Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS), social media management tools, and email marketing platforms.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent messaging.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design software.
• Knowledge of multimedia content creation and digital marketing.
• Familiarity with media relations, public affairs, or government communications.
• Experience coordinating events, campaigns, or community outreach initiatives.

Work Schedule & Environment

• Hybrid Schedule: Typically 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
• Hybrid work arrangements may vary depending on operational needs, meetings, and special events.
• Must be comfortable collaborating with multiple departments and supporting occasional onsite events.
