Job Title: Patient Service Tech/Medical Equip Driver - MI (Negaunee)
Location (On-site, Remote, or Hybrid?): Negaunee, MI (onsite)
Contract Duration: Temp to Perm

 

OVERVIEW
Seeking a dependable and customer focused Patient Service Technician to provide temporary full-time coverage in Negaunee, Michigan. This position is expected to last approximately 3 to 6 months, with the potential to transition into a permanent opportunity.

This is much more than a traditional delivery driver position. You'll deliver essential respiratory and durable medical equipment directly to patients, set up equipment in their homes, explain how to use it safely, and help troubleshoot equipment when needed.

• Drive assigned routes to deliver and set up medical equipment in patients' homes
• Educate patients and caregivers on the safe operation and maintenance of respiratory and home medical equipment
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper function and patient safety
• Complete delivery documentation and patient visit reports accurately and on time
• Load, unload, transport, and properly secure medical equipment
• Maintain assigned company vehicle in a clean, safe, and service ready condition
• Respond to urgent patient and equipment needs during assigned on call periods
• Follow company safety procedures and applicable healthcare requirements
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, caregivers, referral sources, and internal team members
• Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Temporary full time employment for approximately 3 to 6 months
• Potential opportunity to become permanent
• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM schedule with a 30 minute lunch
• Every other week on call rotation
• Company vehicle provided
• Approximately 100 mile coverage radius
• Significant driving throughout the Upper Peninsula
• Combination of driving, medical equipment delivery, equipment setup, troubleshooting, patient education, and customer service
• Independent field based work with daily patient interaction
• Seasonal driving conditions that can include significant snow and winter weather

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
• Strong customer service skills required

Preferred

• General delivery or route driving experience
• Healthcare or medical background
• DME or home medical equipment experience
• At least one year of related work experience
• Familiarity with medical terminology
• Mechanical or technical experience
• Previous experience working directly with patients or customers in their homes

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Email and electronic documentation systems
• Internet navigation and research
• Computer and tablet proficiency
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• Ability to understand and operate applicable home respiratory equipment and supplies
• Mechanical ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting
• Ability to safely load, unload, transport, and properly secure medical equipment according to company procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift and transport patient equipment weighing at least 65 pounds
• Frequent driving throughout the workday
• Regular loading, unloading, carrying, and positioning of medical equipment
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and listen throughout the workday
• Close vision required for paperwork, computers, tablets, and equipment
• Regular contact with patients and medical equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens
• Must comply with Respiratory Protection and N95 Mask Fit Testing Policy
• Medical evaluation and fit testing required
• Annual recertification required
• Must meet OSHA requirements for proper N95 mask seal
