Details Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital 55-bed stepdown unit located on the 4th Floor East Wing Primarily adult patient population, with rare pediatric patients aged 15 and older RN to patient ratio of 1:4 for both day and night shifts 12-hour night shifts from 1830-0630 Every other weekend shift requirement Floating required, ideally to Medical-Surgical areas based on highest need Uses EPIC EMR system Uses Alaris IV pumps Mechanical lifts available in every other room Common patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness Common medications include PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin Support staff includes charge nurse, CNAs, educator, care managers, social workers, dieticians, PT, and OT Requirements Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required, pending licenses not accepted Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS Telemetry competency required BSN not required Driver's license required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Additional Information Manage daily patient care responsibilities including hourly rounding and responsiveness to patient needs Join a tight-knit unit team known for strong collaboration and mutual support 12 hours of orientation provided Nurses must complete a pass/fail open-book skills exam on Friday during orientation, requiring a 90% score to pass Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove nails will result in contract termination Scrub color required: Navy Blue (CNAs wear Ceil Blue) Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-744264.
