Utility Services Representative (1478) Citywide - (U00053) San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is an organization that serves more than 2.7 million customers in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Customer Services Bureau (CSB) is responsible for billing, collection, meter reading, and customer inquiries for water, wastewater, and power services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receives and processes applications for service installations, including payments and deposits. Assigns, checks, and reviews work of utility field personnel to ensure performance and compliance with service orders. Prepares and maintains reports and documents related to establishment, maintenance, billing, collection, and reporting of utility services, land leases, and permits. Discusses consumer ledger accounts, audits meter records and billings, detects and corrects discrepancies. Calculates customer account billing, including demand charges; consolidates billing procedures; prepares necessary records. Collects, compiles, and analyzes data required for billing needs and for applications for rebates and conservation programs. Initiates field activities for service turn‑ons, shut‑offs, meter changes, and installation changes; determines and collects deposits and processes payments. Receives and processes requests, complaints, and inquiries regarding water or power services, billing inquiries, and service changes. Performs other related duties as assigned. Nature of Work The role may require the ability to lift objects weighing up to 45 pounds and to operate a 2‑way radio to maintain communications with field personnel. Qualifications One year of clerical experience in a customer service, billing, or collection department of a utility, bank, department store, insurance company or credit agency.
