The Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) plays a vital role in providing experience, education, and professional services to support individuals in achieving and maintaining recovery-oriented, wellness-focused lifestyles . Key responsibilities Key responsibilities include ensuring comprehensive patient services such as assessment, discharge planning, and warm handoffs; providing advocacy, education, and recovery support; engaging patients in crisis and therapeutic interventions; assisting in recovery planning and discharge coordination; delivering motivational interviewing; facilitating continuum of care and follow-up support; and collaborating with care teams to ensure proper documentation and effective care transitions. The role also involves educating patients and families about addiction, overdose signs, naloxone administration, and navigating insurance and transportation barriers.
