Accounts Payable Specialist

Currently, they are looking to add an Accounts Payable Specialist to their team. Salary / Hourly Rate $25/hr - $40/hr (commensurate with experience) Position Overview The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a key role in supporting the organization’s finance function by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative nonprofit environment and is committed to maintaining strong financial controls and compliance. Responsibilities Of The Accounts Payable Specialist Process high-volume invoices accurately and in a timely manner. Review and verify invoices and payment requests for appropriate documentation and approvals. Manage vendor setup and maintain accurate vendor records. Prepare and execute weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments. Reconcile accounts payable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for and properly posted. Assist with month-end close, including accruals and reporting. Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies. Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and nonprofit accounting standards. Required Experience / Skills For The Accounts Payable Specialist 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Commitment to accuracy and confidentiality. Preferred Experience / Skills For The Accounts Payable Specialist Experience working in a nonprofit organization. Familiarity with fund accounting and grant tracking. Experience with accounting software such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or QuickBooks. Exposure to month-end close processes. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
