About the Position

Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse (Bariatrics & Orthopedics Focus) – North Carolina

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Matthews, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants (local rate applies for candidates within 50 miles)

Schedule: 4 x 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), with 2-3 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule; 48-hour weekly schedules may be available

Highlights:

• 40-bed Medical-Surgical unit specializing in Bariatrics and Orthopedics with a daily census of approximately 39 patients
• Patient ratios typically 1:5-7 (may fluctuate based on unit needs)
• Epic charting system with full interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, lift teams, and rapid response teams
• 16+ week contract duration available through February 27, 2027
• Comprehensive 36-hour orientation program with week-one availability required for hospital orientation
• Diverse patient population including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Float requirement within facility; candidates must be flexible to unit needs

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BCLS (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), IV Start, Telemetry interpretation
• ACLS certification preferred
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Proficiency in blood product administration, central line care/management, dysrhythmia interpretation, isolation precautions, non-invasive airway management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Must maintain hand hygiene compliance of 75% or higher
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• First-time travelers accepted for this position
