Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor registered nurse position located in Omaha, Nebraska. The role involves providing patient care within a busy adult medical-surgical unit specializing in orthopedic cases. The position requires strong clinical skills, team collaboration, and flexibility to manage frequent discharges and admissions.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week. Start date is 08/03/2026.
• Required Qualifications: Active nursing license, BLS certification (AHA), minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical or orthopedics, and drivers license is required. Candidates must adhere to the radius rule of 50 miles and not be employed as full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization, including affiliated entities.
• Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification is preferred but not required.
• Float: Float rotation may be required to other medical-surgical units serving patients awaiting beds.
• Additional Information:
  • The unit typically has 55 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6.
  • Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbation, GI bleeds, pneumonia, among others.
  • RNs are required to read their own strips; telemetry awareness is advantageous.
  • The unit emphasizes hourly rounding, responsiveness, teamwork, and cultural competence, serving a diverse patient population.
  • Orientation includes 2 days of unit-specific training.
  • Scrubs are navy blue.
