Our client in Irving, TX, is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their accounting team on a contract-to-hire basis. This is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build hands-on experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.

The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work accurately across multiple systems while meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.

• Prepare journal entries, primarily related to prepaid expenses.

• Assist with month-end close activities and general ledger maintenance.

• Process accounts payable transactions and audit supporting documentation, including vendor invoices and labor timesheets.

• Perform bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.

• Transfer and maintain financial data between Microsoft Access and Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.

• Research unapplied cash, identify discrepancies, and ensure transactions are posted to the correct accounts.

• Prepare, maintain, and assist with financial reports using Microsoft Excel.

• Support the accounting team with additional projects and administrative accounting tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, but not required.

• Minimum of 2 years of general ledger accounting experience, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and debit/credit transactions.

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains or another ERP system is a plus.

• Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and financial reporting.

Pay Details: $55,000.00 to $60,000.00 per year
