Job Summary The Senior Director of Training provides enterprise leadership for employee development and operational excellence across a multi-plant power generation fleet in union and non-union environments. This role sets the long-term strategy to build a competitive, highly skilled workforce by strengthening plant leadership and role-based operational fundamentals. The Senior Director leads a cross-functional team to deliver scalable training and support that meets today’s needs while building future capability for expansion projects and sustaining performance of existing assets. Scope and Span of Control Fleet-wide governance for employee development and training. Develop a long term strategy and implement a program to incorporate the use of apprentice programs to increase technical skill sets. Develop and oversee KPIs, analytics, and reporting to ensure employee development outcomes produce a highly qualified generation workforce. Training support: provide curriculum input, qualification standards, and effectiveness checks for leadership development, plant operations, and technical roles. Key Responsibilities Training & Support Enterprise Governance and Delivery Develop and lead the enterprise training strategy, standards, and governance across all generation assets. Support plants in completing training gap analyses and building closure plans to meet Generation Training goals. Provide routine updates to senior leadership on implementation status, employee development progress, and resource constraints. Serve as the senior escalation point for training conflicts, including participation issues, curriculum changes, and roadblocks to employee development. Training – Capability Building and Governance Partner with Talent & Culture to define role-based curricula and develop job qualification standards for key plant roles. Provide SMEs to develop training materials, simulations, and job aids, and align content to regulatory and company standards. Establish effectiveness checks (participation, proficiency, field validation) and support workforce reviews to confirm training effectiveness. Sponsor Plant Manager communities of practice and coaching to build capability and ensure knowledge transfer across sites. Safety, Regulatory, and Environmental Compliance Champion a strong safety culture and personal accountability across all training activities. Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental permits, NERC requirements, and internal safety and quality standards. Sponsor cross-functional lessons learned and knowledge sharing with partner departments. Provide implementation support for Operations DNA and reinforce expectations through Conduct of Operations training. Ensure corrective actions and extent-of-condition learnings are shared consistently across the fleet. Drive the Operational Excellence strategy through disciplined standards, learning, and a safe work environment. Financial and Performance Management Own the enterprise Training budget, forecasts, and financial controls to fund employee development efficiently. Define, monitor, and communicate KPIs for training completion, employee development, and program effectiveness. Drive cost optimization while maintaining safety, compliance, and asset performance. Systems, Standardization, and Analytics Ensure effective use of SuccessFactors/Absorb to plan, deliver, and track employee development. Lead data quality, reporting, and analytics efforts (e.g., Power BI) to enable transparent, evidence-based decisions. Support system enhancements, integrations, M&A data conversion, and post-implementation stabilization with IT/OT and Cybersecurity. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication Coordinate with Generation, Engineering, Supply Chain/Procurement, IT, Finance, and Project Management to align priorities and deliver integrated outcomes. Provide executive-level status, risk, and performance communications aligned to business objectives. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven leader of cross-functional, multi-site teams in industrial or power generation environments. Deep knowledge of power plant systems, maintenance, operations, and TPM/RCM principles. Expertise in training and developing people from the front line to Senior Leadership. Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication across all levels. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience building or governing companywide standards, training, and apprentice programs. Travel up to 50% with overnight stays as required; work extended/irregular hours as needed. Experience designing KPI frameworks and dashboards to drive performance improvement. Physical and Travel Requirements: Ability to access industrial environments including stairs, ladders, confined spaces, and elevated work areas. Ability to wear required PPE and meet site access requirements. The base salary range for this position is: $198,640 - $ 297,960* *The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
