Overview The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Tribal Health Research Office (THRO) invites recent Postdocs to apply for a STEM‑focused fellowship aimed at exploring and analyzing NIH‑funded initiatives connected to Tribal Nations, collaborations with Tribes, or projects centered on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations. Fellows will evaluate research progress over a ten‑to‑fifteen‑year timeframe, analyze federal policies, and develop data analysis and program evaluation skills to support AI/AN health and training initiatives. Responsibilities Analyze NIH‑funded initiatives related to Tribal Nations and AI/AN populations. Evaluate research progress over ten‑ to fifteen‑year periods. Design and build databases to organize and analyze health‑related activities. Summarize data, identify trends, assess program gaps, and produce findings for stakeholders. Participate in interagency coordination and annual HHS meetings. Prepare reports and recommendations to inform future programs. What You Will Gain Hands‑on experience in portfolio analysis, program evaluation techniques, data summarization, trend identification, and health outcome assessment. Development of technical skills in database design, analysis, and reporting. Exposure to interagency coordination, stakeholder communication, and mentorship by NIH THRO staff. Nature of the Appointment Participants are not employees of NIH, DOE, ORISE, or ORAU and receive no employment‑related benefits. Eligibility and Qualifications Minimum age 18 years. Doctoral degree received within the last 60 months of appointment start date. Current graduate students nearing completion may apply if their degree is awarded before the fellowship starts. U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible foreign national.
