Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Telemetry/Med-Surg unit in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of Tele/MS experience and a TX or compact RN license for night shift coverage.

Details

• Position is located on a 34-bed Telemetry/Ortho-Trauma unit (7 South)
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Patient ratio is 1:6, with some 1:5 assignments possible
• No on-call requirements
• Every other weekend required
• Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 3 PCTs, and 1 Unit Clerk; night shift includes 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, and 2 PCTs
• Equipment used includes Welch Allyn Vital Signs monitors and GE Telemetry Monitoring
• EMR is MediTech
• Common procedures include Wound VAC, CPM machines, external fixation, and bracing
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment)
• Current NIHSS certification required for Tele RNs
• ACLS preferred; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Telemetry and/or Med-Surg RN experience required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Navy scrubs required
• Outgoing, team-oriented nurses are said to be the best fit for this unit
• The unit has recognized staff members with ICARE and Daisy Awards
