What you'll do:Skills, Experience, Qualifications, If you have the right match for this opportunity, then make sure to apply today.Supervise and coordinate activities of all kitchen staff; instruct the team in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of menu itemsMaintain knowledge of menu, preparation methods, ingredient awareness, and quality standardsIdentify problems before they arise and implement plans of action to address these issuesCoach team members in a patient, clear, and concise mannerMaintain knowledge of kitchen equipment and organizational resources for repairs and preventative maintenanceDemonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to the staffPrepare and cook foods of all types for daily operations and special eventsInspect food preparation, storage, and serving areas to ensure safe, sanitary food-handling practices; ensure employees follow standards and regulationsOrder or requisition food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation; verify quantity and quality of received productsDetermine production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure the timely delivery of servicesCollaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes and menus, taking into account such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients, anticipated volumeAssist with estimating the amount and cost of required ingredients and supplies; negotiate pricing with sales representativesAnalyze recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food, labor, and overhead costsEnsure staff have a complete understanding of their job requirements and sufficient training before holding them accountable for resultsPlan, direct, and supervise the food preparation, purchasing, and cooking activities of multiple kitchens or outlets within the establishmentFollow inventory standards and procedures to consistently conduct an accurate inventoryMeet with members of the sales team and the Executive Chef to discuss menus for special events as neededEnsure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns, and apply corrective measures when necessaryEnsure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management at all times via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the outlet are metEnsure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition; arrange for equipment purchases and repairs as neededAdhere to and enforce all national, state, and local regulations in regards to labor and food safety/sanitationWho you are:You have a High School Diploma or a General Education DegreeYou have a state-issued food handling certification as requiredYou have 5+ years of related experience in the hospitality or culinary industryYou can read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsYou can write routine reports and correspondenceYou can speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workersBENEFITSWe are proud to offer competitive wages and the following benefits for full-time employees:Up to 3 weeks paid time off annually50% off discount at most New Waterloo restaurantsHealth, vision + dental benefits401K matchingPaid holidaysVolunteer payTuition reimbursementReferral bonusesDiscounts at our shops, hotels + local partnershipsABOUT NEW WATERLOONew Waterloo is a community-centric independent hospitality company based in Austin, Texas.
