Human Resource Generalist

Job Summary

The HR Generalist is a versatile, detail-oriented role reporting to the Director of Human Resources, responsible for supporting daily HR operations across the United States and Canada. Key focus areas include managing leave administration and ADA accommodations, ensuring legal compliance (Workers' Compensation, I-9s, and minimum wage tracking), maintaining accurate employee records within UKG, and driving employee engagement through internal communications and culture initiatives. This position is ideal for a proactive HR professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and effectively balances administrative rigor with dedicated employee support.

Location: Remote or In-Office (Horsham, PA)
Starting Pay: Approximately $40,000 annually (+ higher depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities

• Leave & Accommodations: Administer U.S. federal/state and Canadian provincial leave programs (FMLA, provincial leaves, personal leaves). Manage ADA accommodation requests, tracking documentation, approvals, and return-to-work requirements.
• Attendance Administration: Train managers and assist administer attendance policies in UKG. Review and correct employee points/occurrences, answer manager inquiries, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• HRIS & Operational Support: Maintain employee records in UKG, run routine reports, and support HR data tracking. Serve as the primary backup to the Benefits Manager.
• I-9, Audits & Legal Compliance: Oversee I-9 and E-Verify compliance (including reverifications and mismatches). Conduct recurring audits for leave, attendance, wages, and employee files. Oversee Workers' Compensation claims, accident reports, unemployment claims, employment verifications, and record requests.
• Employee Relations & Policy Guidance: Serve as a point of contact for employee and manager inquiries. Assist with workplace investigations, review disciplinary documentation, and support consistent policy application across US and Canadian locations.
• Regulatory & Compensation Tracking: Research and track state, provincial, and federal minimum wage increases. Update job descriptions and ensure proper distribution of labor law posters.
• Manager Support & Training: Assist with manager guidance, HR training materials, HR roundtables, and internal training coordination.
• Employee Engagement & Communications: Manage and update the UKG company news and info page. Lead culture initiatives, including the Employee Spotlight program, DEI news posts, and birthday/anniversary recognitions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Previous experience in an HR, administrative, or compliance-focused role supporting multi-location operations. Knowledge of or experience with Canadian HR/employment standards is a strong plus.
• Core HR Knowledge: Familiarity with Leaves of Absence (LOA), ADA accommodations, Workers' Compensation, and I-9 compliance.
• Technical Skills: Experience using HRIS systems is preferred; hands-on experience with UKG is a strong plus.
• Professional Attributes: High level of discretion and confidentiality, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong conflict-resolution abilities, and exceptional attention to detail.
• Certifications: Active Electronic Notary certification is highly preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Physical Requirements

• Stationary Position: Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer (up to 8 hours per day).
• Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and standard office equipment.
• Communication: Constantly communicates via verbal, written, and video channels; must be able to exchange accurate information clearly with employees and managers.
• Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity required to view a computer monitor, prepare and analyze data/reports, and read detailed documents.
• Lifting & Moving: Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of light office supplies, files, or event/training materials (up to 15-20 lbs).
• Mobility: Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and moving in an office setting to attend meetings, conduct training sessions, or meet with employees.

  • Travel: Minimal travel required for periodic team meetings, company events, or on-site visits as needed.
