Sr Transportation Manager

Job Summary Reporting to the Regional Director of MedTrans, the Senior Manager is responsible for operational support and supervision of either multiple branch locations or a single mega‑large branch location. This position interacts with cross‑functional teams including Sales, HR, Customer Service and Branch Personnel. The role ensures MedTrans services are provided while keeping expenses under control and facilitating effective communication between drivers, branch and corporate management. Compliance with all state Department of Transportation (DOT) and company regulations is maintained, and MedTrans capabilities are adapted to provide efficient, high‑quality transportation service. Responsibilities Develop and mentor staff through onboarding, open communication, training and development opportunities, and performance management processes. Build and maintain employee morale and motivation, ensuring the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies. Develop and grow the local MedTrans management structure in each location to ensure proper bench strength and direct driver engagement. Perform route profitability and efficiency exercises to improve P&L and efficiency performance. Optimize daily routes and activities based on branch and fleet workloads and available customer order information to maximize utilization of all fleet assets. Ensure compliance with all DOT and company regulations. Develop and maintain relationships with regional and local leadership including Medline Sales Force and Branch Operations Management. Ensure drivers are properly trained according to MedTrans requirements and that the assigned MedTrans fleet operates safely and efficiently. Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained in accordance with the MedTrans vehicle maintenance policy. Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with drivers as required by DOT or company policy. Review financial metrics monthly and quarterly. Develop cost reduction initiatives for the branch. Visit Medline customers, with or without Sales, to discuss operational issues and improve delivery service. Typically manage through multiple managers and/or supervisors. Oversee major projects, programs and outcomes. Assume budget responsibility. Interpret and execute policies for departments and projects; develop, recommend and implement new policies or modifications to existing policies. Provide general guidelines and parameters for staff functioning. Handle hiring staff, recommending pay increases, performing performance reviews, training and development of staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies. Minimum Job Requirements Experience managing and dispatching drivers and use of routing software. At least 5 years of experience coaching, mentoring and training staff. Intermediate knowledge of transportation costing and motor carrier operations. Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel. Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint. Basic level skill in Microsoft Word. Ability to move, lift, carry supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs. Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours and up to 12 hours per day for up to 6 days a week. Preferred Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree. Salary The anticipated salary range for this position is $116,000.00 – $174,000.00 annual. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
