Position Description
Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as The Harris County Child Welfare Board to provide support services for the children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.

Forensic Case Manager Overview: Under supervision of the Senior Justice Assessment Center (SJAC) supervisor, this position provides case coordination and case management services to adults who are 60 years of age or older who have been a victim of crime, or physical abuse, sexual abuse, financial exploitation or caregiver neglect.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Completes face-to-face visits and psycho-social assessments for the Senior Justice Assessment Center (SJAC) clients.
- Coordinates and facilitates all forensic examinations, capacity assessments, physical exams, and others as needed.
- Prepares and maintains comprehensive, accurate, and timely case documentation and enters it into EMS.
- Makes referrals to social services agencies and completes Crime Victims Compensation (CVC) applications.
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with investigative case workers, law enforcement officers, attorneys, physicians, and other team members to ensure a collaborative investigation and victim restoration process are met.
- Provides ongoing case coordination
- Attends local, regional and national trainings to maintain current knowledge of best practices and latest research on elder abuse.
- All other assignments or projects assigned by the supervisor.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Social Science arena, e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or closely related field.
- One (1) year of full-time paid work experience in case management in a social service setting preferably working with seniors such as Adult Protective Services, The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD, a hospital, a nursing home, or social work.
- Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Case Management Software.
- Reliable transportation with a valid Texas driver's license and auto liability insurance.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of case management and administration, case management documentation, and records management.
- Skill in emphasizing, valuing, and dealing successfully with the special capabilities, distinctive cultural histories, and unique needs of people of various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
- Skill in self-discipline, dependability, and ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
- Maintains the highest standards of ethical behavior, exercising honesty and integrity, respect, confidentiality, and fairness in the execution of their official responsibilities.
- Handles sensitive interpersonal situations calmly and tactfully.
