Health Care Technician II (S) Agency: Department of Health and Human Services, Division: Murdoch Developmental Center, Position Number: 60051393, Grade: MH02. Overview Health Care Technician II located at Arbor Cottage, Unit1, reports to the Unit Manager. This supervisory technician monitors the care provided by Health Care Technician I’s, offering feedback and guidance. The role provides specialized direct services to adults with intellectual developmental disabilities, including behavioral programming, habilitative training, and support with health care, personal care, and daily living activities. Responsibilities Supervise Health Care Technician I staff, monitor care provision and provide feedback. Deliver specialized direct services to adults with intellectual developmental disabilities, including those with behavior problems or medical conditions. Implement behavioral programming and habilitative training activities. Assist in necessary health care, personal care, and all aspects of daily living for residents. Serve as an essential employee during adverse weather and emergency events. Working Hours Second Shift: 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., including holidays and every other weekend. Some flexibility required to meet center’s needs. Qualifications Required: Nurse Aide I certification (North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation). Preferred: Nurse Aide II (North Carolina Board of Nursing), North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Experience working with multi‑handicapped individuals and basic health care, hygiene, and safety knowledge. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) are preferred but not required. Benefits Sign‑on bonus of $2,500 may be offered, contingent on the 2025‑2026 budget approval. Eligible for bonus if hired as a full‑time or part‑time permanent employee, working 30–40 hours per week. Prorated bonus for fewer than 40 hours. Bonus is not available to those who have held a position in state government, the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months, or who have previously received a sign‑on bonus from any state agency. About Murdoch Developmental Center Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, near the Research Triangle area. The center serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and provides a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages and functional abilities. Employees must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry. Funding, background checks, drug testing, and vaccination policy apply as per DHHS regulations.
