Director of Assessment, Accreditation and Quality

The Director of Assessment, Accreditation and Quality will provide college-wide direction for the development, implementation, and management of college quality improvement efforts in academics and student services. The Director will guide efforts in the assessment of student learning, curricular innovation, cyclical curriculum review, evaluation of student services, and Institutional accreditation compliance. The position promotes a philosophy of continuous quality improvement and seeks to foster a culture of data-informed decision-making across academic and student service areas of the College. This position will be responsible for the maintenance and security of privileged information as well as data and information related to Institutional accreditation, staffing plans, and resource allocation. The Director of Assessment, Accreditation and Quality will be responsible for institution- level accreditation reporting, federal compliance and the development and maintenance of procedures that align with the College’s mission, values, objectives, and accreditation standards. This position is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment. Responsibilities Provide oversight and coordination of institutional accreditation and serves as the Academic Liaison Officer (ALO) for the college with the Higher Learning Commission. Provide leadership to support and maintain college requirements for institutional accreditation and federal compliance. Identify and assess areas of accreditation, assessment, academic quality and/or compliance risk and provide leadership to creating action plans for improvement. Provide support for program specialized accreditation and serve as a resource for interpretation of accreditation standards and guidelines. Provide support for the identification of new and innovative curricular offerings to support student interest and community need. Ensure College processes for curricular review, student learning assessment and student service evaluation align with accreditation standards and expectations while promoting a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous quality improvement. Support the development, implementation and tracking of quality improvement efforts college-wide. Analyze, disseminate, and interpret results of research studies and institutional data to assist College administration in identification of resource needs that support improvement efforts, and when needed, contract negotiations. Gather, analyze, and report on data related to discipline, program, department and institutionlevel performance. Support an effective and efficient system for utilizing performance indicators to improve departmental operations. Manage the development and implementation of comprehensive research protocols that investigate the effectiveness of College academic and student service departments. Consult on internal database structure to support staffing, resource allocation, contract negotiations, assessment of student learning, curriculum, accreditation and quality improvement efforts across the college. Maintains a high level of knowledge of institutional goals, mission, values, processes, and climate to ensure improvement processes elicit meaningful change. Maintains a high level of discretion and confidentiality. Provides supervision to assigned staff within the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. Represents the College with the Higher Learning Commission. Represents the Chief Strategy Officer on internal and external committees and boards, as directed. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Ability to work additional or non-traditional hours and travel, as needed. Qualifications Working knowledge of HLC accreditation and federal compliance requirements. Demonstrated skill in the alignment of department processes, curriculum and assessment with accreditation requirements in higher education. Knowledge of processes to identify community needs, curriculum development and review. Ability to design and implement techniques for assessing student learning at multiple levels. Development and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research protocols, and utilization of results. Ability to effectively manage, coordinate and implement multi-dimensional projects including organizing and prioritizing work assignments for assigned staff. Coordinate, implement and track effectiveness of quality improvement efforts collegewide. Maintain a collaborative, college-wide perspective in the context of the institution’s mission, values, goals, and priorities. Professional Skills Maintain confidentiality and discretion related to privileged data and information. Work cooperatively and effectively with senior administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Self-starter with a high level of self-motivation and ability to independently problem solve. Ability to travel, as needed, to conduct College business and represent the College. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. EDUCATION: Master’s degree in a social science discipline, education evaluation, educational leadership, curriculum development or a directly related field. PhD preferred. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a post-secondary education setting, including leadership of accreditation, research, and/or assessment and evaluation initiatives. Experience supervising direct reports, managing complex projects, and working with relational databases isessential.
