Environmental Health & Safety Engineer - IGT

Responsibilities Howmet Aerospace has an immediate opening for an EHS Engineer (EHS Professional) at our Hampton, VA location. This position is a key member of the location's EHS team and is highly visible within the plant and business unit. Key Responsibilities of this position include: Assist with location fatality and serious injury prevention efforts including leading deployment and execution of key prevention elements and coaching location leaders. Analyze injury and incident data; assist line management in implementing focused injury reduction efforts and provide expertise to proactively address injury reduction. Assist with the facility's industrial hygiene program: execute IH sampling plans, administer IH databases and employee exposure records, manage hazardous materials, oversee ergonomics, provide radiation protection and lead health hazard elimination efforts. Provide technical expertise and participate in injury/incident investigations to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures. Assist in managing Local, State, and Federal environmental compliance permits. Monitor and report on environmental metrics such as emissions, waste, and energy usage. Assist with the development and implementation of EHS policy and procedures. Coach and counsel departmental leaders in executing their EHS accountabilities. Partner with location leadership to deliver EHS objectives. Lead and assist with other EHS accountabilities. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an Environmental, safety, or health role. Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in environmental, safety or health discipline. Professional certification such as ASP/CSP/CIH or ability to obtain. Preferred Skills: Demonstrated passion for change and relentless focus on execution. Knowledge of applicable Federal and State EHS regulations and procedures. Strong communication, analytical, problem‑solving, and human relations skills. Ability to make difficult decisions with incomplete data. Critical skills: execution, attention to detail, initiative, conflict resolution, customer focus, collaboration, ownership, and tenacity.
