Accounts Receivable & Collections SpecialistPosition Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday–Friday Department: Accounting / Accounts ReceivableWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable & Collections Specialist with a strong background in customer collections and past-due account management. This position will focus heavily on contacting customers regarding outstanding balances, resolving payment issues, maintaining accurate account records, and helping reduce aging receivables. The ideal candidate is professional, persistent, organized, and comfortable having difficult conversations regarding past-due accounts while maintaining positive customer relationships.Responsibilities:Manage and follow up on past-due customer accountsMake outbound collection calls and send follow-up emails regarding outstanding balancesReview A/R aging reports and prioritize collection activityCommunicate with customers regarding overdue invoices and payment statusEstablish payment arrangements when authorizedResearch and resolve billing and payment discrepanciesDocument all collection activity and customer communicationsProcess and accurately apply customer paymentsResearch unapplied or incorrectly applied paymentsSend invoices, statements, and collection notices as neededMaintain accurate customer account information and collection notesAssist with account reconciliationsEscalate seriously delinquent accounts when appropriateWork closely with accounting, sales, and management to resolve account issuesAssist with month-end A/R and collection reportingRequirements:Previous Accounts Receivable and collections experience requiredStrong experience collecting on past-due accountsComfortable making frequent outbound collection callsProfessional and confident telephone and email communicationAbility to be firm and persistent while maintaining professionalismStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsExperience researching account discrepancies and resolving payment issuesStrong data-entry and computer skillsAbility to manage a high volume of customer accounts and competing prioritiesExperience with accounting or A/R software preferredAbility to maintain confidential financial and customer informationIdeal Candidate:We are looking for someone who understands that successful collections require consistency, follow-through, documentation, and strong communication.
