This position is within a Med-Surg Neuro department that serves various patient needs including those with strokes, stable neurological deficits, and post-neurosurgery procedures, as well as general Med-Surg overflow patients.

• Number of Beds: 25
• Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Common Diagnoses: Joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive.
• Required Skills: Ability to titrate Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; manage PCA pumps.
• Charge Nurse: Yes, charge nurse takes an assignment.
• Patient Care Assistants: Available at a ratio of 1:10-20.
• Tele/Monitor Techs: Present; RNs should have basic telemetry awareness.

Shifts: 12-hour shifts from 0630-1900, 1830-0700.

Weekend Requirements: At least every other weekend; additional weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs.

Holiday Requirements: 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's.

Floating Requirements: Possible to other medical surgical areas or units with Med-Surg patients.

Duration: 2 days of unit-specific orientation.

Focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness.

Unit typically experiences high patient admission and discharge rates within a day.

Nurses are expected to manage their daily responsibilities efficiently while providing compassionate care to patients of diverse backgrounds.

Mechanical lifts are available in every other room.

• Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS.
• Preferred Experience: Travel nursing experience, but strong candidates without travel history will be considered.
• No license or background hits.

Scrub Color: Navy Blue. Scrubs are provided.
