UCT is looking for a talented Technician IV – Quality Assurance to join us in San Jose, CA!

The Quality Assurance Technician IV provides advanced technical support for quality assurance operations, ensuring products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements. Working with minimal supervision, this role performs complex inspection, auditing, documentation review, and quality verification activities. The position serves as a technical resource within the Quality organization, supports investigations and corrective actions, assists with process improvement initiatives, and helps maintain compliance with quality management systems to ensure delivery of high-quality, customer-ready products.

• In addition to the general duties of a Technician III, performs advanced quality assurance activities including incoming, in-process, and final inspections, documentation reviews, and product acceptance activities.

• Conducts detailed dimensional, visual, and specification-based inspections using approved inspection methods, procedures, and equipment.

• Reviews and approves quality records, inspection reports, certificates of conformance, test data, travelers, and associated documentation to ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements.

• Identifies, documents, and assists in the investigation of nonconforming materials, process deviations, and quality system issues. Supports containment, corrective action, and preventive action activities.

• Serves as a subject matter resource for quality requirements, inspection techniques, and product acceptance criteria within assigned product lines.

• Performs internal audits, layered process audits, and quality system verification activities as assigned.

• Supports first article inspections (FAI), new product introductions, qualification activities, and customer-specific quality requirements.

• Assists Engineering, Operations, and Quality leadership with root-cause analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and implementation of corrective actions.

• Participates in Quality Management System (QMS) compliance activities and helps ensure adherence to ISO standards, customer requirements, and company procedures.

• Provides guidance and technical support to less experienced technicians and may assist with training activities.

• Maintains inspection equipment, gauges, and measurement systems in accordance with calibration and maintenance requirements.

• On occasion, may support customer audits, supplier quality activities, or special projects as assigned.

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively across multiple departments.

• Advanced understanding of quality assurance principles, inspection methodologies, and quality system requirements.

• Ability to work independently on complex assignments requiring sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results and quality findings.

• Ability to identify trends, analyze data, and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.

• Working knowledge of measurement and inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.

• Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and quality-related software systems.

• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

Normally requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 4-6 years of related quality assurance, manufacturing, or inspection experience , or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred certifications may include:

• ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
• ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
• IPC or related industry certifications

• Advanced understanding of manufacturing quality systems and inspection processes.

• Experience performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections in a semiconductor, manufacturing, aerospace, medical device, or related regulated environment.

• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.

• Familiarity with nonconformance reporting, corrective action processes, and root-cause analysis methodologies.

• Experience utilizing precision measurement and inspection equipment.

• Strong knowledge of quality assurance and inspection processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to train and mentor less experienced personnel.

• Experience supporting audits, process improvements, and quality system initiatives.

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Work is performed in a manufacturing and quality inspection environment and may include exposure to production equipment, moving mechanical parts, and industrial chemicals. May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and protective footwear. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time. Frequent use of inspection tools, measurement devices, and computer systems. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive inspection and documentation tasks as required.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $26.20 and $39.38/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including variable pay and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO (Paid Time Off) and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
