Position Summary

Service Workers are responsible for the maintenance and custodial work on County Connection vehicles, equipment, buildings, and ground.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Fueling of County Connection vehicles, including adding lubricant and coolant, and the cleaning of parts.
• Checking and servicing batteries.
• Inspecting County Connection vehicles for fluid leaks.
• Removing and replacing fare box vaults.
• Cleaning and maintaining County Connection vehicles and Maintenance facility; operating bus washing equipment.

The Service Worker classification is considered a safety sensitive position under the drug and Alcohol testing programs issued by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Therefore, the employee is subject to substance abuse testing.

Requirements

• Education equivalent to a high school diploma or general educational development (GED).
• Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial driver's license, including the required endorsements and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate.

Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used to maintain a fleet of vehicles in a safe manner.
• Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions followed in heavy equipment repair shops.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete forms and write routine reports.
