ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best. Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success! Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media; consistent with the physical limitations of the provided location and the needs and capabilities of the individuals involved. The Special Education Teacher assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Recognizes and evaluates the learning and other disabilities of students on a regular basis; seeks the assistance or referral of district specialists as required. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Explore individual needs and give side-by-side support to discover how each student best learns and develop personalized solutions to each students' learning style and abilities. The Special Education Teacher is an active role requiring lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS Bachelor’s degree. A current special education certification with proper endorsement(s) according to state and federal standards. Valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment is required in AZ only. The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS Two plus years SPED Teaching experience and proven proficiency and experience in the subject of focus and specialty area of this position.
