Senior AccountantPOSITION OVERVIEWReporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and crew payroll. This role also ensures compliance with internal controls and accounting standards and has designated operational treasury responsibilities. The Senior Accountant utilizes independent judgment and discretion and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all applicable payments, receipts, and credits are processed accurately and within established timeframes. The Senior Accountant provides training, coaching and counseling to three direct reports, and in their absence, steps in to ensure accounting operations are not disrupted. Ultimately, the Senior Accountant provides leadership within the Finance Department and ensures the company books are ready to support decision making.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESACCOUNTS PAYABLEA Senior Accountant that oversees all aspects of the accounts payable process.ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLEA Senior Accountant that oversees all aspects of the accounts receivable process.CREW PAYROLLA Senior Accountant that oversees all aspects of the crew payroll process.TREASURYA Senior Accountant that oversees daily cash position and cash flow monitoring.LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATIONA Senior Accountant that personnel management functions in collaboration with People Operations, i.e., supervising, training, hiring, coaching, disciplinary action, counseling, evaluating performance and recommending promotion or separation from employment.PROCESS IMPROVEMENT & SYSTEMSA Senior Accountant that audits processes and creates or updates standard operating procedures on a continuous basis; actively looks for ways to reduce manual processes and increase efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring appropriate security protocols are maintained.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or a closely related field required.At least five years of recent relevant experience required.At least one year of supervisory experience, or the ability to complete supervisory training within the first nine months on the job, is required.Strong preference for experience with Business Central within Microsoft Dynamics or other ERPs that are not QuickBooks, Nautical Systems Enterprise (NSE), Veson Nautical IMOS, ADP and Primo Payday.Experience with Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) preferred, with intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency required.Able to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.Able to solve problems proactively.Able to work discreetly and professionally with confidential and sensitive information.Able to be adaptable and effective in fast-paced, growing environmentsAble to demonstrate a collaborative, team-first mindset with a positive, solution-focused approach.COMPANY OVERVIEWHeadquartered in West Palm Beach, FL, Schuyler Line Navigation Company (SLNC) is a U.S flagged maritime transportation and logistics provider specializing in commercial and government cargo services.SLNC offers competitive pay, an exceptional culture and a generous benefits package.By applying to this position, you consent to your application materials being processed through Indeed Talent Scout, Indeed Smart Sourcing, and associated AI/LLM tools as part of our application process.
