Associate Compensation Our associate compensation system is designed to attract and recruit the top law students throughout the United States and reward those whose productivity contributes to the growth and profitability of the firm. This includes not only a market rate compensation and bonus structure, but also opportunities to participate in activities traditionally reserved for shareholders and to attain early shareholder status. Summer Associate Program The Summer Associate program is designed to provide an experience that reflects life at the firm as a lawyer. It is offered to law students after their first or second year, and presents a challenging variety of legal work. As a summer associate, you’ll prepare agreements, briefs, interrogatories, and other legal documents and be encouraged to attend client meetings, depositions, court hearings, negotiations and closings. You’ll be assigned a mentor who helps you with administrative, professional and personal questions. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with a number of different attorneys throughout the summer. You’ll work in different areas of practice throughout your experience, and rather than a formal rotation program, you’ll have significant exposure to a particular practice area, if you so desire. Almost every summer associate who has received an offer to join the firm has accepted it. Position: Corporate Legal Assistant Location: Minneapolis, MN Job Id: 181 # of Openings: 1 CorporateLegal Assistant Minneapolis, MN Winthrop & Weinstine is seeking a knowledgeable, proactive, and driven Legal Assistant to work in our Corporate Group - someone with strong attention to detail who can prioritize the workload for busy attorneys. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a close-knit team provides a rewarding opportunity and an enjoyable workplace. The responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to, the following: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Including, but not limited to): Draft and format professional correspondence and documents. Review, organize, assemble, and scan documents in preparation for closings. Prepare, circulate, and track signature pages for closings. Assist and maintain checklists in the preparation of closing books. Maintain corporate minute books. Act as a liaison between attorney and client, facilitating communication and transmittal of necessary information. Process and transmit client documents and materials. Process document comparisons. Review, edit and finalize attorney time entries. Process and distribute client invoices. Process new file openings and prepare engagement letters. Monitor attorney inbox and electronically file client matters. Provide administrative support such as calendar and email maintenance, answering phones, making travel arrangements and processing expense reports. Complete other projects and assignments as assigned. Dependable, accountable, and consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic with a professional demeanor in all interactions. Strong interpersonal relationships and ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Ability to work well under pressure with deadlines – possess a sense of urgency. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities and work styles. Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant change. Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions. QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED: Ability to work within a team environment and work well under pressure with deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to proactively identify issues and implement practical solutions. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills. Professional demeanor, strong work ethic including dependability and accountability. Experience with cloud storage and document management software. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft suite. Excellent computer and communication skills. Excellent grammar, proofreading skills, and a keen eye for detail, ensuring high levels of accuracy in all written communications and document preparation. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively, ensuring completion of assignments despite frequent interruptions and changes in schedule. QUALIFICATIONS, PREFERRED: Experience as an administrative or legal assistant in a corporate legal environment preferred. Experience in a legal office. Experience in providing administrative support functions. Experience with the following software: iManage, InTapp, and iTimekeep. WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires use of office equipment, such as computers, phones, and copiers. Requires sitting and computer-related activities for extended periods of time. Requires occasional lifting up to and exceeding 20 pounds. SALARY & BENEFITS: Winthrop is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role and the specific offer will be determined based on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, and alignment with the responsibilities of the position, as follows: Candidates who are newer to this type of role or building foundational expertise can expect an offer in the $48,000–$66,000 range. Candidates with growing proficiency and a solid track record in similar roles may be considered in the $56,000–$75,000 range. Those with advanced, specialized knowledge or a history of leading complex work in this area may fall within the $67,500–$80,000 range. Candidates with extensive, strategic-level experience or who bring deep subject matter expertise may be paid up to $91,000. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Winthrop & Weinstine reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
