Role Description The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients in an acute care setting at Highland Hospital. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, developing and implementing nursing care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient responses, and coordinating care with physicians and interdisciplinary team members. The RN educates patients and families on health conditions, discharge plans, and ongoing care, while maintaining accurate clinical documentation and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Rochester, NY, requiring flexibility to work assigned shifts, including possible evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications Current valid RN license in New York State and graduation from an accredited Nursing program (Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing; BSN preferred). Clinical skills in patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and monitoring of vital signs and patient status. Experience with acute care nursing, including collaboration with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient and family education, advocacy, and teamwork. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and respond to changing patient needs in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to patient- and family-centered care, safety protocols, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and other specialty certifications (e.g., PALS) preferred depending on unit. Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation systems, and comfort using standard clinical equipment.
