Buyer – Manufacturing

Minneapolis, MN | Direct Hire | $75,000–$82,000

Konik is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization that is seeking a Buyer to support purchasing operations, supplier relationships, and material availability in their production environment. This role will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, maintaining supplier communication, supporting engineering and production teams, and ensuring materials are available to support customer demand.

The ideal candidate will have previous buying experience within a manufacturing environment, strong ERP experience, and enough mechanical knowledge to communicate effectively with Engineering, Production, and suppliers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and taking ownership of the purchasing process.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including purchase orders, blanket orders, supplier communication, and expediting.
• Monitor supplier commitments, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure materials are available for production.
• Work directly with suppliers to resolve shortages, delays, quality concerns, and non-conforming materials.
• Partner with Engineering and Production teams to understand component requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support product development activities.
• Identify and qualify suppliers, obtain quotes, and support sourcing decisions.
• Maintain ERP purchasing information, including pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and supplier data.
• Support cost reduction initiatives and identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes.
• Manage vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs and supplier relationships.
• Support outside processing activities, including machining, cutting, bending, painting, dipping, and other manufacturing services.
• Process engineering change orders (ECOs) and maintain accurate purchasing documentation.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels and support production demand requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with ERP systems required.
• Experience with vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs required.
• Strong understanding of purchasing processes, supplier management, and material planning.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand manufacturing processes, components, and production requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Engineering, Production, Suppliers, and internal teams.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, organize, and interpret purchasing data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
