Sheriff's Cook*

Position Title: Sheriff's Cook II (full‑time) Responsibilities Prepare and prepare food for institutional facilities. Supervise and train inmates in kitchen safety, meal preparation, and serving. Ensure proper sanitation, ware washing, and safe handling of kitchen equipment. Maintain care and control of all kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils. Qualifications Prior experience as an institutional or correctional cook is highly desirable. Must obtain a San Bernardino County Food Handlers Certificate within two weeks of appointment. Must pass an extensive background investigation, including a polygraph examination, and have no felony convictions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, squat, and reach regularly. Willering knowledge of cookery for a large number of persons or equivalent combination of education or experience. Alternatively, a community college Certificate in Culinary Arts with a copy of the certificate attached to the application. Conditions of Employment Work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed. Positions available in San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, or Adelanto. Requires a San Bernardino County Food Handlers Certificate within two weeks of appointment. Applicants cannot be sponsored for a visa at any time. Benefits Excellent benefits including a hiring bonus of $1,000 upon hire and $1,000 after completion of 2,080 service hours. Referral bonuses: $250 for a referred candidate who is hired and $500 after the new employee completes 2,080 service hours.
