Dental Assistant IIRutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Dental Assistant II within the Rutgers Health University Dental Associates at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. The Dental Assistant II provides support to faculty at RHUDA-New Brunswick. In this role, the Dental Assistant II performs work related to the care, sterilization, packing, and disbursement of equipment and supplies. The Dental Assistant II also maintains all aspects of sterilization procedures related to dental instruments and supplies associated with patient care within the various clinical operations. Additionally, the Dental Assistant II provides chair side dental assisting to providers in all disciplines and takes various dental x-rays as assigned by providers.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Reviews providers schedule and sets up treatment rooms for procedures being performed. Assists various faculty chairside in the delivery of outstanding quality care. Maintains inventory of supplies, instruments and equipment according to department policy. Restocks equipment and supplies in the examination rooms and supply area. Reports depleted items following the established procedure. Checks returned instruments and prepares them for sterilization. Examines equipment to detect leaks, worn or loose parts, or other indication of disrepair, verifying that equipment functions properly. Reports findings of defective equipment and maintenance needs as per department protocol. Exposes and scans digital radiographs using digital sensor or phosphor plate. Exposes Panoramic, Cephalometric and CBCTx-rays using specialized machinery. Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety and environmental and infection control standards. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment, steam autoclaves, sonic washers and other sterilization equipment. Decontaminates, processes and sterilizes instruments and treatment equipment with proper handling to prevent loss or damage. Ensures quality and consistency of the sterilization process. Checks for past due patient visits.
