Financial Controller

The Controller is a mission-critical leader responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and security of the company’s financial records. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role owns the end-to-end accounting function—from daily transactions to month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, tax compliance, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate combines rigorous technical accounting expertise with an operational mindset, leveraging modern technology and AI tools to drive efficiency and financial discipline. Key Responsibilities Close & GAAP Compliance: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, delivering timely, accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements. Internal Controls: Establish and enforce a robust internal controls framework to safeguard assets. Variance Analysis: Monitor actual performance and present clear financial results and variance insights to the CFO and executive team. External Oversight: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners to ensure clean audits and regulatory compliance. Systems & Technology Leadership ERP Administration: Act as the system owner for Acumatica (and adjacent finance platforms), overseeing configuration, workflows, user access, and integrations. Data Integrity: Ensure the ERP functions as the single source of truth across AP, AR, inventory, and project accounting. AI & Automation: Evaluate and implement emerging AI tools (e.g., intelligent AP automation, predictive close, AI-driven reconciliation) to streamline workflows, eliminate manual effort, and improve insights. Team Development: Manage and mentor the accounting team, promoting a culture of accuracy and ownership. Cross-Functional Partnering: Collaborate with Sales Ops, Supply Chain, and Project Management to align financial processes across operations. Technical Guidance: Provide accounting direction on revenue recognition, contract reviews, and cost capitalization. Assist the CFO with special projects (e.g., M&A due diligence, financing). Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (MBA/Master's preferred). Certification: Active CPA license preferred. Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a manufacturing, technology, or project-based setting. ERP Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with cloud ERPs. Direct experience configuring or optimizing Acumatica is strongly preferred. Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and data governance. Familiarity with AI-powered finance automation tools. Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical ability, high detail orientation, and clear executive-level communication skills.
