Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg
Profession: RN

Experience: One year in medical-surgical experience required
License: Current RN license in state of practice required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor required


Must-Have:
- Associate Degree (A.S.) in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred


Description:
Responsible for the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients on the medical-surgical unit.
This position is responsible for age-related physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Includes, but is not limited to, care planning, vital signs, medication dosages, physiological changes, and psychosocial needs.
Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel commensurate with their scope of practice.
Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations.
Is competent in all routine nursing skills, including medication administration and intravenous therapy.
Provides for age-related physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of patients, including those with disabilities.
Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the healthcare team.
Educates patients and/or their families regarding care using teaching methods appropriate to their age and condition.
Delegates patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on individual competency and scope of practice.
Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided.
Actively participates in the orientation and training of new employees and staff.
Identifies and communicates opportunities to improve care and services.
Is open to change and reaching new goals.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
