Family Law Paralegal

Mid size firm — Broward County, Florida

Well known firm in Fort Lauderdale seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support attorneys in all aspects of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, paternity, domestic violence, equitable distribution, and post-judgment proceedings. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and experience managing cases from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of family law matters and provide comprehensive support throughout all stages of litigation.
• Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, notices, financial affidavits, parenting plans, discovery requests and responses, and other family law documents.
• Coordinate and maintain case files, ensuring accuracy, organization, and compliance with court deadlines.
• Prepare and electronically file pleadings and legal documents with state and local courts.
• Assist attorneys with discovery, including gathering, reviewing, and organizing financial records, tax returns, bank statements, business records, and other relevant documentation.
• Maintain litigation calendars and monitor deadlines for hearings, mediations, depositions, and court appearances.
• Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and third parties.
• Prepare mediation, hearing, and trial materials, including exhibits, witness lists, notebooks, and trial binders.
• Conduct legal and factual research as needed.
• Assist with preparation of settlement agreements, marital settlement agreements, and final judgment packages.
• Track billable time and ensure timely completion of assignments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of family law paralegal experience required.
• Strong knowledge of family law procedures, court rules, and Florida e-filing systems.
• Experience handling high-conflict and complex family law matters preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP) designation preferred but not required.

Preferred Experience

• Experience preparing financial affidavits and analyzing financial documentation.
• Trial preparation and courtroom support experience.
• Familiarity with complex asset division, business valuations, and high-net-worth divorce matters.
