Staff Accountant

Position Overview Vaco by Highspring is seeking a highly hands-on Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a retail client located in DTLA. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this role will own core accounting responsibilities including accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and support for the monthly close process. This is an execution-focused role ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, a positive and professional attitude, and the desire to grow within a fast-moving entrepreneurial company. Key Responsibilities Support and execute the monthly close process Prepare and post journal entries including accruals and prepaids Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations Maintain accuracy of the general ledger and accounting records Manage accounts payable processing and vendor communications Partner with the sales team to support accounts receivable activities Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements Maintain organized and audit-ready financial documentation Support administrative and cross-functional operational needs as required Assist in building and improving internal accounting processes as accounting transitions fully in-house Qualifications Approximately 3 years of accounting experience Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals including debits, credits, and financial statements Experience supporting month-end close and general ledger accounting Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Professional communication skills and positive energy Comfortable working in a lean, hands-on environment Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Vaco by Highspring values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
