Locums Pediatric Anesthesia Physician

A major tertiary care hospital in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Locums Pediatric Anesthesiology Physician to provide ongoing coverage beginning as soon as possible. This opportunity offers a predictable weekday schedule with no nights, weekends, or call responsibilities while caring for pediatric patients in a busy surgical environment.

The ideal candidate is fellowship-trained in Pediatric Anesthesiology and experienced in managing anesthesia for infants and young children undergoing a variety of surgical procedures.

Schedule

Typical Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Additional shift options may include:

7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

No weekends

No night coverage

No 24-hour call

No in-house call

No beeper call

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide anesthesia services for pediatric surgical patients

Conduct preoperative evaluations and develop anesthesia plans

Administer and monitor anesthesia throughout surgical procedures

Manage postoperative recovery and pain control

Collaborate with pediatric surgeons, nursing staff, and perioperative teams

Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation

Case Mix

Primary cases include pediatric patients ranging from approximately 2 days old to 2 years of age, including:

Hernia repairs

Pyloric stenosis procedures

ENT surgeries

Additional general pediatric surgical cases

Qualifications

MD or DO required

Board Certified in Anesthesiology

Fellowship Training in Pediatric Anesthesiology required

Active Virginia medical license preferred

Current DEA registration, if required by facility
