Development Coordinator

Ada Developers Academy (Ada) is a tuition-free, nonprofit coding academy committed to removing barriers, cultivating community, and producing remarkable engineers, who transform their own lives and the organizations they join. Research shows that underserved, underestimated, and under-resourced adults remain significantly underrepresented in the STEM workforce, especially in computer science and engineering. Ada Developers Academy exists to close that gap.

About this position

The Development Coordinator provides the administrative and data backbone behind Ada's fundraising work, operating as part of a small team led by the Director of Foundation & Major Gifts and the Director of Corporate & Workplace Giving. The Coordinator is responsible for Salesforce data integrity, gift processing, and reconciliation, while supporting grant research and application prep, donor communications, and cultivation event logistics. 

A successful candidate is highly detail-oriented, proficient with databases and CRM systems including Salesforce, a strong communicator, and adept at balancing multiple projects with overlapping deadlines. They bring a deep commitment to social and economic justice and are eager to grow their career within a mission-driven organization.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with an hourly pay rate of $30-33 per hour (DOQ) plus excellent benefits. It is a hybrid position, with one day per week in the office for team meetings, event support, mail processing, etc.

Core responsibilities

Grants Administration

• Research grant opportunities, funder priorities, and eligibility criteria to support pipeline development.

• Maintain the grant calendar, tracking deadlines and deliverables across all active and prospective grants.

• Track grant status, stage, and history in Salesforce.

• Gather materials needed for applications and reports, including program data, student outcomes, and budget details, in coordination with Student Affairs, Business Development, and Finance.

• Maintain organized records of grant agreements, letters of inquiry, and funder correspondence in Salesforce.

Donor Database & Gift Processing

• Maintain gift and donor records in Salesforce, including accurate data entry, regular audits, and cleanup to ensure database integrity.

• Process workplace giving reports from corporate giving platforms and enter gifts into Salesforce.

• Complete regular reconciliation with the Finance team, comparing gift records against financial reports and resolving discrepancies directly.

• Generate donor, gift, and grant reports for staff and leadership.

• Print and send gift acknowledgment letters (in office) and resolve gift processing issues, including failed credit card payments and returned checks.

• Route incoming donor inquiries to the appropriate staff member.

Donor Communications

• Under the direction of the Development Directors, write and schedule donor-facing social media content in line with campaign strategy and messaging.

• Build and maintain campaign donation pages.

• Update giving pages and relevant content on Ada's website.

• Support execution of email campaigns using content and strategy provided by the Directors.
  

Event Support

• Support planning and logistics for donor cultivation events, including vendor coordination, day-of logistics, and marketing materials.

• Provide on-site support for Seattle-area community events (signage, QR codes, materials, etc.).

• Handle post-event data entry and follow-up.

Essential qualifications

• Enthusiastic support of Ada's mission and commitment to social and economic justice

• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in development, nonprofit administration, or a related field

• Demonstrated proficiency in Salesforce, including data entry, reporting, and maintaining data integrity

• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write clear, engaging donor-facing content

• Ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects and deadlines with close attention to detail and accuracy

• Comfort working independently while also working in close collaboration with a small team

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working in workforce development, education, or tech-adjacent nonprofits

• Experience with grant research, tracking, reporting, or administrative support

• Familiarity with corporate and workplace giving platforms (e.g., Benevity)

• Experience writing or scheduling content for social media or email marketing platforms

• Experience interpreting budgets or financial reports

• Experience supporting event logistics or vendor coordination
