Lead Database Administrator

Salary: $120,000 - 160,000 per year Requirements:

• We require at least eight years of experience in database administration, data modeling, business systems analysis, development, or a related field.
• We expect an undergraduate degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• We need strong expertise in physical and logical data modeling, database design, and performance tuning.
• We look for hands-on experience with multiple mid-tier server and cloud database platforms, such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, RedShift, and AWS/RDS environments.
• We require knowledge of data migration, data warehouse architecture, and database implementation approaches.
• We expect strong database administration experience across both cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure, and on-premise environments.
• We need proven capability in database performance monitoring, optimization, and tuning.
• We look for proficiency in Linux scripting and automation for database and system operations.
• We prefer AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification, or an equivalent cloud credential.

• We provide expert-level DBA support for production, test, and development databases across multiple platforms.
• We design, create, and maintain physical databases for critical business applications.
• We develop and maintain database logs and defect trackers, and translate business needs into supporting database capabilities.
• We administer mid-tier server and cloud platform databases, including day-to-day monitoring, optimization, and developer support for database objects such as tables, indexes, and backup jobs.
• We analyze application and database performance, and continually improve technical standards, processes, and technologies.
• We review application designs to ensure they meet production acceptance expectations.
• We safeguard backup, recovery, security, reliability, and performance across our systems, while maintaining policies and procedures that protect database integrity.
• We train and mentor staff, and resolve the most complex issues escalated from less experienced team members.
• We evaluate IT vendor products and contribute to special projects and other assigned work.
• We define the overall structure of databases and data warehouses based on functional and technical requirements.
• We create strategies for data acquisition, archival recovery, and database implementation that support scalability and business continuity.
• We manage data migration and conversion efforts while minimizing downtime and preserving data integrity.
• We troubleshoot and resolve complex data processing issues in large-scale database environments.
